Dothan’s First Publix-Anchored Community Shopping Center Breaks Ground

Montgomery, Alabama - The official commencement of construction began today on Cottonwood Corners, Dothan’s first Publix-anchored community shopping center located at the northeast corner of Ross Clark Circle and Cottonwood Road (AL HWY 53). Representatives from Montgomery-based developer Aronov Realty Management, Inc., Publix, Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, and Houston County and City of Dothan officials were on hand for the event.

The new 63,000+ square foot shopping center will be anchored by a 45,600 square foot Publix Super Market and will offer over 18,000 square feet of leasable space for other national, regional and local retailers to provide a complement of everyday goods and services to the area.

Speaking on behalf of the City of Dothan, Commissioner Paul Lee of District 3 said, “We are excited to be a part of this development and welcome Publix to the Dothan community. We have worked long and hard in building infrastructure to develop the southeastern section of the Dothan community and this development reinforces the work we continue to do as a city to grow.”

Chairman of the Houston County Commission, Mark Culver, said, “One of our primary jobs as elected officials is to create jobs and we welcome the multi-million dollar investment and approximately 200 jobs this center will create with the anchor tenant Publix. We appreciate the partnership we have with the city, chamber, and the developers who all worked on different aspects of this project to see it come to fruition. We look forward to our new partnership with Publix in building our community and serving our growing region.”

The shopping center is slated for a Fall 2010 opening.
